Mtonjaneni Lodge

Mtonjaneni Lodge is a 3-star Country Lodge, halfway between Melmoth and Ulundi, situated on the Mtonjanani Heights, overlooking the beautiful Valley of eMakhosini.


Mtonjaneni (meaning 'at the spring' in Zulu), is situated next to Dingaan's Spring. Established in 1997, the lodge, has grown to render on unique service to corporate, leisure and international tourists.

We offer 26 en-suite rooms, accommodating 55 guest, if sharing. 3 Rooms can be converted into family-friendly rooms.

Popular for functions, conferences and weddings. Nico, the owner, host tours on arrangement to our Nguni Cattle Stud, creating awareness of the Nguni Cattle as part of the Zulu Nations Culture and history and still relevant and of value to the farmer today.

Animal Petting Farm - our scenic 'touch-farm' is a favorite for young and old
Country Craft Shop - a unique Gift shop, supporting local crafters and entrepreneurs
Handcraft Centre - a rural job creation initiative. handcrafted Zulu shields and artefacts

Guided tours on arrangement to vist our Nguni Cattle Stud
Self-guided - Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game reserve, Battlefields, Zulu Heritage sites, Emokhosini Heritage Park (Route 66), Farms (Essential Oils, Avo's, Sugarcane, Timber and game farms).
