The Northernmost Province of South Africa is rich in wildlife. It is known for it’s bushveld and wildlife reserves, including the Northern section of the Kruger National Park. Tourism is one of the three pillars of the Limpopo economy, along with mining and Agri business. The largest platinum deposits in South Africa are found in Limpopo.
The bushveld is beef cattle country. Tropical fruits, such as bananas, litchis, pineapples, mangos and pawpaws, as well as a variety of nuts, are grown in Tzaneen and Louis Trichardt areas. Tzaneen is also the centre of extensive citrus, tea and coffee plantations and is also a major forestry area.
Limpopo contains much of the Waterberg Biosphere. Within the Waterberg, archaeological finds date to the Stone Age. There are fossil rich caves at Makapansgat. West of Kruger National Park lie the craggy Blouberg Mountains and Makgabeng Plateau with ancient rock art.
Near Modjadjiskloof, at Sunbird Baobab Farms, a large baobab tree has been fashioned into a spacious pub.
