Oom Wessel Guesthouse

In the heart of the Zulu Kingdom and an easy two hour drive north from Durban, you will find Oom Wessel Guesthouse near the small agricultural town of Melmoth

Situated on a timber farm named Nandi, after King Shaka`s mother, Oom Wessel Guesthouse provides a combination of rustic vintage ambience and old world charm where you can step back in time and experience true old-fashioned warm family hospitality. Guest cottages and rooms are reminiscent of settler homes and are tastefully decorated to ensure comfort and a warm, intimate and informal stay.

The farm, once a Catholic Church and Mission has been transformed into a unique and interesting venue with a collection of antiques and memorabilia to remind the visitor of days gone by.

Nandi Farm is a family-owned farm and accommodation venue with its own style and charm. The venue and surrounding buildings of corrugated iron, rusted vintage vehicles, old farm implements, vintage collectables and country setting makes us the ideal setting for a Farm Stay or a Farm Wedding. We also host Birthday parties, School and Church groups and Art weekends.

We offer 3 self-catering units and 4 B&B bedrooms. All bedrooms are en- suite and have private entrances, coffee/tea facilities, bar fridge and microwave. All rooms have DSTV Easyview channels. There is also Backpacker Accommodation with 6 basic en-suite rooms and a shared kitchen.

Traditional home style meals are served by arrangement and locally grown produce is used whenever available. We also make our own delicious biltong and use our own honey in meal preparation. Guests are seated at a long table and have the opportunity to meet and get to know each other in a homely informal way.

For Weddings and Functions the corrugated `Oom Wessel se Sinksaal` (function venue) and the ceremony area in the plantation enables couples to mix and match various elements to create unique décor for your special day with a touch of vintage style.
